Types of Simple Sentence Used on the Joko Widodo’s Speech at Bali

Abstract

The aim of this study was to describe the types of simple sentence s found in the Joko Widodo’s speech delivered at the (International Monetary Fund) IMF- World Bank Annual Meetings in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Oct. 12, 2018. This study applied descriptive qualitative method. The instrument were the researcher and the table analysis. The data collection were taken from internet, it was Joko Widodo's speech text of his speech at Nusa Dua Hall, Nusa Dua, Bali, 12 October 2018.  To analyze all data, this study used the theory proposed by Frank (1972). The results showed there were 18 (eighteen) types of simple sentences structures classified into: (1) simple sentence appeared 10 times (55.57%); (2) past tense found 2 times (11.11 %); (3) present continuous tense found 1 time (5.55 %), (4) present perfect tense appeared 4 times (22.22 %); and (5) future tense found 1 time (5.55 %).
