DEFENSE MECHANISM IN MEENA KANDASAMY’S WHEN I HIT YOU
Abstract
This study aims to explain defense mechanism of Meena, the main character in When I Hit You novel. Using defense mechanism as the method, the research elaborates the main character’s words as well as behavior to conduct her defense mechanism. The writer then finds that Meena as the main character in the novel experiences five types of defense mechanism: sublimation, reaction formation, isolation, idealization and fantasy.
